Rebuild Your Smile
Restorative Dentistry for Patients with Smile Challenges
Patients that have older dental work, broken or missing teeth, or receding gums are sometimes embarrassed about their smile and feel overwhelmed by their dental needs. We help patients like this all the time!
The key is to create a plan that both meets health and appearance goals and is a good fit for the patient's schedule and budget.
Planning for Health at DeShazer Leverton Dentistry
Treating infection and pain are, of course, a priority in helping a patient achieve proper oral health. We begin with a thorough dental examination and appropriate dental x-rays to diagnose any underlying problems.
We may recommend periodontal therapy to get periodontal disease (gum infection) under control prior to repairing teeth if there are signs of infection or bleeding gums. Periodontal disease is the #1 cause of tooth loss in adults, it is treatable and preventable; the earlier can be detected and managed, the better.
Restorative dentistry is focused on using dental materials and techniques to make the teeth and gums fully functional and healthy. After gathering diagnostic information, we will create a plan that restores health, function and appearance to a smile.
Restorative dentistry options that we offer in our Pell City dental practice include:
- Dental Fillings and Bonding procedures »
Used to repair small areas of tooth decay, minor chips or flaws.
- Crowns and Bridges »
Custom laboratory restorations made of biocompatible metals or porcelain. Crowns cover the top of an existing tooth to add strength; bridges replace one or more missing teeth.
- Cosmetic Dental Porcelain Veneers »
Veneers can be adhered to tooth structure with minor preparation, and may be used to conceal flaws and match other porcelain restorations, such as crowns or bridges.
- Root Canals »
A detailed process to remove infection from a tooth nerve and preserve the tooth structure so it may serve as a foundation for a crown.
- Dental Implant Restorations »
Following placement of one or more dental implants, our dentists will restore missing teeth using an implant as the 'anchor'. Dental implants can be used to retain a single crown or bridge; multiple implants are often used to secure a partial or complete denture.
- Complete Dentures and Partial Dentures »
When multiple teeth are missing, it may be necessary to design a denture to replace some, or all of the missing teeth in an arch.
As restorative and cosmetic dentists, Dr. DeShazer and Dr. Leverton share a goal of creating a healthy, functional smile that can be maintained with routine preventive care, both at home and in our Pell City dental office. The first step to a healthy smile is a complete dental examination.
